Description
Laminated Glass is made up of two or more layers of glass permanently bonded together with an interlayer (PVB / SGP / EVA) via a controlled, highly pressurized and industrial heating process. The lamination process results in the glass panels holding together in the event of breakage, reducing the risk of harm. Laminated Glass is classified as Grade A Safety Glass. There is several laminated glass types manufactured using different glass and interlay options that produce a variety of strength and security requirements. When annealed glass is broken, it will break into shape pieces which is dangerous to humans. When tempered glass is broken, it will form small particles with obtuse angles. When laminated glass is broken, the glass particles will still adhere to the interlayer material. As are shown in below pictures. Generally speaking, laminated glass is safer than tempered glass and annealed glass.

Laminated Glass advantages
- High security When laminated glass is attacked by outside force, it is hard to be penetrated because the interlayer film(PVB/EVA/SGP) has strong tenacity and can absorb and weaken a mass of striking energy. Even if the laminated glass is broken, the splinters will stick to the interlayer and not scatter.
- Sound insulation The interlayer film(PVB/EVA/SP) is a kind of organic material and it can block sound waves. Therefore, the laminated safety glass offers better soundproofing performance than the pure glass with the same thickness.
- Anti-Ultraviolet Most laminated glass can absorb 99% of incoming ultraviolet radiation. It protects the furniture or appliances from discolouring and damage.
- Energy-saving The interlayer film impedes the transmission of solar heat and reduces cooling loads. Thus saving the energy of power of air conditioners.
- Create aesthetic sense to building Laminated glass with a tinted glass panel or coloured interlayer will beautify the buildings and harmonize their appearances with surrounding views which meet the demands of architects.
What is laminated glass used for?
Laminated glass can be used for places where super high strength and safety functions are required. Such as prisons, government building:
- Windows
- Handrails
- Doors
- Tabletop
- Balustrades
- Stairs
- Floors
- Partitions
