These solar reflective glasses derive its name from its ability to reduce solar heat gain by higher reflection and absorption of the visible and IR portion of the solar spectrum. This means that while heat gain can be dramatically reduced, the light transmission value through the glass will be reduced together. Enviro-Shield Solar Reflective Glass can be used monolithically in annealed, heat strengthened, tempered or laminated form. AGS’s Enviro-Shield Solar reflective Glass series typically enhances the performance of the raw glass by as much as 30 to 60 percent in terms of shading coefficient only. The U-value is also improved by as much as 25 percent.
For building requiring better thermal performance, Enviro-Shield Solar Reflective Glass can also be paired with our Enviro-Cool Double Glazed Units. In some cases, where more stringent requirements are necessary, the enviro-Cool Double Glazed Units can be filled with inert gases, such as carbon, which serves to further retard thermal movement laterally.

Privacy: Enviro-shield Solar Reflective Glass has a reflective surface, which allows occupants in the interior of a building to see a clear exterior view throughout the daytime. As the interior is dimmer than the exterior during the day, people outside are unable to see the interior. Thus privacy is ensured. In the night, the privacy factor is lost, as the interior when lighted becomes brighter that the exterior night sky. These occurrences are inevitable in all ranges of Solar reflective Glass, and such glasses are normally used in commercial buildings, where in the night these commercial buildings tend to be unoccupied. For hotels or residential buildings, where privacy is important both day and night, AGS range of Enviro-Shield Low E Glass are recommended.
